Santa Cruz – Surf City

Santa Cruz is one of my favorite cities in Northern California, regardless of the season you go there, it’s sunny all the time, and you can always see some people in bikini. It feels like holidays!
The amusement park gives a really particular atmosphere to this city and you can eat almost everything you’ve ever dreamed : burgers, smoked turkey legs, toasted potatoes, corn-dogs, giant bretzels, cookies sandwichs and even deep fried twinkies, and of-course, at any time of the day (Twinkies are sort of cream eclairs that are not healthy at all).

Alsacian pizza recipe – “Flammekueche”

It’s really an easy recipe, it’s actually a “flat pizza” because there is no yeast in the dough.

So you don’t need to wait hours until your Flammekueche base is ready. It’s one of my favorite meals, I hope you will give it a try and enjoy it as much as I do!
With this recipe, you will feed 2 starving friends or 3 hungry dinner guests and spend one hour in your kitchen (cooking time included).

Point Lobos State Natural Reserve

We spent the President’s Day’s weekend (which is a day off here) visiting Santa Cruz, Monterey, Point Lobos State Natural Reserve and Big Sur. It was almost unbelievable to us, French expatriates from Paris area, to have such good weather in February (almost 30 degrees celsius, 85 degrees Fahrenheit), to wear shorts and short-sleeves shirts while most French had to deal with snow. I couldn’t stop saying “Hey, it’s February !”.

Nous avons profité du week du President’s Day (qui est un jour férié ici) pour visiter Santa Cruz, Monterey, Point Lobos State Natural Reserve and Big Sur. C’était presque invraisemblable pour nous, expatriés ayant habité en region Parisienne ces trois dernières années, de pouvoir se promener en short et t-shirt manches courtes quand, au même moment, la plupart des Français avaient de la neige. Je ne pouvait pas arrêter de dire “Hey, on est en Fevrier !”
